Gameplay

Drag your finger from the first letter to the last letter of a word in the grid. Words can run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — forward or backward (eight directions in all). Find every target word listed for the puzzle to advance to the next level. Any other valid dictionary word you spell on the grid is a bonus word.
Any valid dictionary word you can trace on the grid that isn't one of the listed target words counts as a bonus word. Bonus words of four or more letters earn you a coin.
There are three hint types. Reveal highlights the start cell of one unfound target word (25 coins). Trace reveals the full line of one unfound target word (50 coins). Sweep highlights the start cells of three unfound target words (75 coins).
Words must be at least three letters long, run in a straight line on the grid, and appear in the selected dictionary. WordAmazing uses TWL06 (American English tournament list) or SOWPODS (British English Collins Scrabble words). You can switch dictionaries in Settings. A small number of offensive words are excluded.
Each difficulty draws target words from a different word-frequency tier. Gentle uses the most common everyday words; Master includes obscure vocabulary. The six levels in order are Gentle, Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, and Master. Your level progress is tracked separately per difficulty, so you can switch anytime without losing your place. After 75 levels on a difficulty you are automatically promoted to the next one.
Each letter has a point value based on Scrabble tile values (common letters like E and A are worth 1; rare letters like Q and Z are worth 10). Target words score at 2× the letter sum, bonus words at 1×. You also receive a flat 50-point bonus for completing each puzzle.
The watch uses a smaller 5×5 grid that fits the screen, but it follows the same rules: trace target words in any of the eight directions and earn coins for bonus words. Coins and progress sync to your iPhone via iCloud.
Yes. Both word lists are filtered to remove profanity, slurs, and other inappropriate language. Words with negative or violent connotations are excluded from target lists while still accepted as bonus words if spelled. WordAmazing contains no ads, no social features, and no user-generated content.

Coins & Purchases

New players receive a one-time 50-coin starter grant on first launch. After that, bonus words of four or more letters earn one coin each. You can also purchase coin packs in the Shop: Pouch (100 coins), Chest (500 coins), or Vault (2,000 coins).
Try restarting the app. If the coins still don't appear, go to Settings and look for a "Restore Purchases" option. If the problem persists, use the contact form below and include the approximate purchase date so we can help.

Progress & Technical

Yes. Coin balance and level progress sync across your devices via iCloud. Game Center leaderboard scores and achievements are also synced through iCloud automatically. On Apple Watch, scores sync to your iPhone via Bluetooth, and the iPhone uploads them to Game Center on your behalf.
WordAmazing has seven Game Center leaderboards: one for each difficulty level (Gentle through Master) plus an overall total. Scores upload automatically after each puzzle. If you're offline, they queue and upload the next time you connect.
WordAmazing requires iOS 17 or later (iPhone and iPad), watchOS 10 or later (Apple Watch), or a Mac running macOS Sonoma or later via Mac Catalyst.
Make sure you are running the latest version from the App Store. If the problem continues, try restarting your device. If it still happens, please contact us below with your device model and iOS version.
